Golf Legend Colin Montgomerie to Visit Course in Vietnam

Tag: Traveladmin @ 2:11 pm

Thirteen years after Vietnam opened its first modern golf course, a British golf legend is en route to the storied sands of China Beach where he’ll put his stamp on a links course that is shaping up to be one of Asia’s finest.

Colin Montgomerie, who has set records on the European Tour with 31 tournament victories and eight money titles, travels to the historic Central Coast area the weekend of November 17-18, between playing stops in Shanghai for the HSBC Champions tournament and Shenzhen for the World Cup.

While in Vietnam, Montgomerie will work on The Montgomerie Links Vietnam - a collection of 18 breathtaking holes routed through casuarina pines and seaside vegetation just minutes from Danang’s international airport - and meet with some of the country’s highest ranking government officials.

“I’m excited to see how the site has evolved,” said Montgomerie, who has also played on eight Ryder Cup teams.

Poyet positive ahead of new challenge

Gus Poyet is confident the new regime at White Hart Lane has the ingredients at their disposal to turn Tottenham Hotspur’s season around, starting with the Carling Cup clash against Blackpool tonight.

Poyet, one of Juande Ramos’ first-team coaches, has helped take three training sessions and there will be another today before the fourth-round tie against Championship opponents.

Spurs have not won since beating Middlesbrough in the last round more than a month ago and Uruguayan Poyet has noticed a lack of belief in his short time since returning to the club - but he has also been encouraged by the talent in the squad.

Mosley believes Hamilton effect is overhyped

Motorsport chief Max Mosley believes Lewis Hamilton’s effect on the popularity of Formula One has been exaggerated.

Mosley, president of the FIA, also fears continued success for the Englishman might be ‘negative’ for F1.

And Mosley claimed it would be ’surprising’ if Hamilton had known nothing of McLaren’s possession of the Ferrari dossier which saw his team fined and disqualified from the constructors’ championship - although he stressed he had no evidence either way.
