McCann sent home from Ireland game
Tuesday, 20 November 2007 22:53
Republic of Ireland Under-21 boss Don Givens lambasted midfielder Chris McCann for opting out of the squad less than two hours before the UEFA Championship qualifying clash with Bulgaria.

The Republic won the match in Athlone 1-0 courtesy of John-Joe O’Toole’s injury-time winner, which handed Givens’ side their first win of the campaign.
“I feel the fans have embraced me, and I feel like I’ve embraced the fan base of Boston since Day 1,” he said.
Sam Levinson, one of his agents, joked about the contract length, asking the first question on a telephone conference call and inquiring whether Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein would add a fourth year.
“Well Sam. I’ve heard you ask that before,” Epstein said, chuckling.
