The Melbourne Metro YHA has reinforced its status as a Victorian backpacking industry leader by winning the Victorian Tourism Award for Backpacker Accommodation. The hostel is the fifth Australian YHA Hostel to win their state award this year and will now proceed to the National Awards.
The 23rd annual Victorian Tourism Awards were presented at a gala dinner in the Palladium Room at Crown Casino on Monday 19 November 2007.

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to manage a new luxury resort that is being developed by Proud Resorts Koh Samui Co. Ltd., a joint venture between real estate and hospitality investment specialists, First Oriental, and the Liptapanlop family.

The Mandarin Oriental, Sanya, an exclusive 297-room resort on Hainan, Chinas second largest island, is gearing up for its opening in the first quarter of 2008.
The luxury resort is located on a 12 hectare beachfront site on Coral Bay, all guest rooms, suites and villas, as well as the public areas, will have expansive views over the South China Sea.

Reed Travel Exhibitions, organiser of the Arabian Travel Market, has introduced key changes to the 2008 show format. The four-day event, which celebrates its 15th showing next year, will now be trade-only on the first three days when it runs at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) from May 6 - 9.
The Arabian Travel Market 2008 only be open to general public on the last day.

On Friday, Boeing delivered the first Boeing 747-400 Freighter to enter the fleet of AirBridgeCargo, a subsidiary of Volga-Dnepr Group, under lease from GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS).
The new airplane is the sixth 747 freighter in the AirBridge fleet, joining five 747-200/-300 Freighters.

Air Canada has signed a 10-year lease for one new Boeing 777-300ER from International Lease Finance Corporation to continue its wide-body fleet renewal and modernization program.
The airline will take delivery of the leased aircraft in April 2009, bringing to 18 the total number of Boeing 777s entering the fleet.
